Happiness

I asked my heart,
What is the meaning of happiness for you?
Why, it said,
To beat and beat and beat
With the same energy that propels waves in oceans!

I asked my soul,
What is the meaning of happiness for you?
Why, it said,
To be, to exist, to shine
In a medium encapsulated by purity
In a medium where the state of existing
Remains a celebration!

I asked my consciousness
What is the meaning of happiness for you?
Why, it said,
To feel safe and in control of myself
At all times
To keep on striding
Without ever faltering
To hold my palm up to my forehead
And to scan the horizon
For new lands to be conquered
As if I were a sailor, at a time when
Travelling by sea was birthing!

I then asked my own reflection in the mirror
What is the meaning of happiness for you?
Does it matter, it whispered to me,
While glancing at me stonily
As stoically as a cold Queen,
One with eyes as hard as those of an eagle!

Does it matter whether I am happy or not
What is there to be happy about life
Here, everyone acts according to one's ascribed duties
Here, everyone acts, out of compulsion,
Blindly, driven, acting, simply even if
They know not why they have to act!

Happiness is somewhat like everything else
Like clouds do, it tends to beautify my moods at times
Or, at other times, it bids me to wake up rivers and invoke floods
Like dawns and dusks, it comes and goes in cycles
Like seasons, it shifts its tempo as it plays itself in me
Shall it ever matter then
If I am happy?

I closed my eyes then
And smiled
Just like I am sure everyone else does;
Mechanically, hypocritically;
Pray, happiness is as fleeting as a thought
It is meant not to be sought for
It is meant not to be chased after
Happiness, rather,
Is to be accepted as it has been given to us, as if it were
The fate lines drawn on our palms!

Dutiful~~~

Love had planted its own seed in my heart
As if, by doing so,
It would fulfill me, surround me,
Elevate me, exalt me
And even cause me to forget of life's woes!

Love's seed grew and bloomed into a sparkling flower
One meant to attract the bees of the other realms
There where the Lord's enchantment keeps everything
Swirling always in a tumultuous sea of peace and sooth!

Love's flower, though, with time, wilted
And died
Bringing me to experience a state of being
Where only actions are given their due
Thereby making of me, a sort of automated robot
Awaking to emotions only when
I close myself into the night's silence
To let the tunes of the divine flute overwhelm me!

Pray, of my passage here in this realm
I shall, if Fate sees it fit, make a fruitful harvest
Whether it be on the spiritual plane
Or on the mundane one
Yes, as long as I will walk on my thorny path
I shall try to fill my peers with warmth
Ignite their faces with bubbly laughs
Drown their hearts with the ecstasy of life, and
Awaken their souls with the essence of mysticism!

As for love, its seed, and its wilted flower,
Pray, I shall cryogenize them
To have them brought to life,
Someday, when I shall find myself, sprouting
In a realm where humility and innocence
Are revered as if they were the core foundations
Of existence!

From my ecstatic soul~~~~

Pray, would you hold my words as being sincere
When I do dare to tell you that the skies are watching us
Yes, that we are not alone here in this world
That how we do decide to act is something
Which has been preordained already!

But then, if you would ask me why do the skies remain silent
Then, I would have no other option than to tell you
That our faith in this silence
Is the one major test that we have to deal with!

Yes, skies watch over us, angered,
Angered at our state
Angered at what we must have done
To have caused them to sentence us with a fall
A fall, feeling as heavy as Sisyphus' mountain
Held high over our shoulders!

But skies watch us
And if they deem us worthy
Of being forgiven
They decide to manifest themselves
In ways so baffling
That should you start sketching them
You might be deemed as being devoid of reason!

But skies are what we are made up of
Skies inhabit us
Just as we inhabit the cosmos that they sustain
Skies are from where we originate
Skies are where we shall go
Hand in hand,
Appeased, released, soothed,
Free and totally in love!

Skies have shown me my next path
Skies have bid me to break down the wall
Of gloom that I had built all around me
To shelter me from life's hazards
Skies, so unfathomable
Yet, remaining, nonetheless,
Our canonical home!
Skies, so silent,
Yet, skies for which I shall keep shouting out,
From my soul
Ecstatically,
Loving words of praise!

The Skies' Fancy

The skies lashed out at me, simply because,
I dared be myself,
A broken doll with a particular personality,
Living up to my own ideologies
And constantly yearning to lose myself
In between the many folds of my own shadows!

The skies lashed out at me
To the extent of having me
Running, fleeing, flying
Into the depths of the earth
Wanting no more to have any contact
With their essence
Essence, having the ability to animate me!

All alone, paining with the intensity of the heat
I chose to sleep inside a statue
One made of such a matter
Which cannot be broken
Which cannot be melted
Why, one from whose comfort
I shall never rouse!

But the skies, upon freeing
Themselves from their delusional ego,
Sought me out!
And, finding me not,
Poured out their grief on all living beings
Inflicting them with the curse of aging and
Death!
Till, unable to bear it all,
Earth's mother rumbled her stomach out
And spit me out!

Overjoyed, the skies cried with regret upon seeing my state
Yet, delighted at finding me, they worked hard to wake me up
But lost in a dream which I had drowned myself in,
A dream which I can control
And guide, as I deem it best,
Their calls remained unheeded!

But when the Grand Master of the skies
Came upon my statue
And whispered from his soul
That if I so desire it to be such
He shall Himself cease to be,
The pain that throbbed through me
Was too much to handle!

I woke, jolted with love as I had never known before,
I woke, and
I walked out of my statue,
Bid the Grand Master to see how fragile my heart is
And to accept it only if He shall be able to care for it!

The Charmer's Mastery~~~~

Life has shown me its meaning
Yes, by taking me prisoner
And thrusting me in its jaws,
It has bid me to taste of its ecstatic mysticism
Mysticism which spontaneously became my strength!

Life has made of me its slave,
Yet, I claim not to abhor of such a state
Since I do trust that the path I tread
Had been purposely laid out for me!

Still, my own selfish ego,
So like a skillful puppeteer
Plays with my senses,
Willing me to let go of life's essence
And even drown in that which is not relevant!

Pray, like a snake, hypnotized by my charmer
I sway, longingly, to the tunes of my senses
Even if I know that, in the very end,
I shall only be pushed to sleep,
Back in my own cocoon!

Life has opened up to me, its own treasure chest
Wanting to see me smile at its richness
Wanting to see me to be, for it,
A lusty pirate
Ready to fight and scathe at anything and anyone
Who would want to steal away that chest
But I,
A mere agonizing snake
Can only feign to sleep
While waiting for my charmer to feel like playing
For me, rapturous melodies
Which shall have me forget everything
About life's meaning and treasure chest
And which shall have me wanting to devote myself solely
To the whims of the charmer
Swaying always to the beats of his rhythm
And pretending that the whole of Existence
Revolves around him!

A revival~~~

I looked up at the skies,
Searched and searched for the hidden realms
Trying to appease the unrest that was growing in me
So like a porous beast
Ready to engulf me in its ugliness!

I looked up at the skies
And swallowed my gulps heavily,
While clenching my fists tightly!

Why, hidden realms are meant not
To be seen with naked eyes
Hidden realms are meant not to display themselves at will
Why should they, after all
Are we not fallen beings,
Treading in gross muck which we can perceive not
So much that, with the passage of time,
We have become imbibed with its excrescence
And realize not
That what we are is not what we were initially meant to be!

Pray, it matters not if they choose to be hidden
What matters is that I remain dutiful to them
So that overwhelmed by my allegiance
They allow me to step through their gates
And to forget
How sorrowful a place this fallen Earth can be!

I shall keep looking at the night skies
I shall keep listening to the silence of darkness
I shall keep searching for the hidden realms
As nothing on Earth would be able to gratify my aching soul
Nothing, as nothing here holds not sustainable foundations!

Swirling in the storm of life

I have been told that I am to love life
That I am to give myself fully in living it
That I am to exalt at its every moment
For it shall not be given to me twice!

But then, I asked Mother Earth
What is there to love with your ethos
People birth in pain, people live in confusion,
People accept the acts of time,
People crumble when faced with Death!
People have to abide to the destruction of wars
Wars, aiming solely to attain foggy means
Means which shall not even be sustainable
One day, when your face, dear Mother,
Shall be altered to fit your new mood!

Why is it wrong for me to live with one foot on land
And the other one in the clouds
After all, what I lived before being conscious here
Remains as dark as the darkest of nether
What shall happen to me after my passage here,
Though philosophized according to the whims of each,
Remains unknown still to me,
To Time, to Existence, and maybe even to the Gods!

Pray, why am I to love life,
People even if they get good births,
Live trapped in the web of mundane pleasures
So much that they die regretful of their youth,
Of having to leave behind their money
Their property and even their kin!
People if they get bad births,
Have to scrape the muddy soils to be able to feed themselves,
Only to end up dying all alone, on a cold sidewalk,
With no hope of anyone coming to complete their last rites!

Why, life is at it is,
Life remains the skillful showcase of the Gods
Meant to have us tested and punished
For we did dare to want to feel with the senses!

I do love life, I claim not to hate it,
I do love it, I merely wish to be freed from its clutches
For I have seen the power who can allow stars to birth
While engulfing dark holes in its belly
I have seen it, and since then,
This world, life, the many frugalities,
Bore me to death!

Complacent Patriotism

Patriotism rides high on its own chariot

Proud and mighty

Knowing that after fifty years

It has been able to impose its rule!

Why, just take the time to look around you

See how freedom expresses itself

Confident and loud

Knowing that accompanying it

Are human and moral rights

As well as aspects of tolerance and acceptance!

See how economy thrives

As if it were an undiscovered lake

One in which fish abound

Fearless and carefree

Knowing that their existence

Is laden with joy!

See how progress races against itself

Aiming to reach its own apex,

Found on cliffs bursting with venom at all points

But which, once conquered,

Can do nothing other than divulge the makings of tomorrow!

See how sustainable battles are initiated

For the cause of that which cradle hearts,

Beliefs, inspirations, breaths and jolts!

Why, patriotism, smug, feels like painting itself

And its fifty years

On a mural, in the soul of the island

Where the whole world will see

How peaceful it feels

On this day

As it rides its chariot proudly

While celebrating its glory!

So be it~~~~

Why should I fight against the will of the skies
Why should I hide from it
Try to slay it, with my imaginary sword?

Why should I even yearn for it?
Pray,
What shall be has already been set to be!

Yes, it is there, written on the palms of my hands
It is there, weaving itself like a crawling vine
In my heart's orchard
Weaving itself into a swing
To allow me to sit on it
And enjoy the bliss of it!

Pray, life is like a clock
Ticking itself slowly away
Eating up the seconds as steadily as it can
Going there where it is meant to
Even if it has done so a few thousand times
Going, even compulsively
As it has been programmed to do such!

And I, in this clock,
Remain the second hand
Acting even more compulsively than the two other hands
Acting even submissively
And dutifully!

Pray, the skies remain the clockmaker
Choosing to feed the battery of life
When they feel it be the right time for such
And choosing to let the clock die
If they deem it best!

Pray, why should I fight the will of the skies
So shall it be as it has always been meant to
As it is, in a reality where the game ends never when we wish it
Why should we fret over its fruits, over its pricks
Over its obligations, over its secrets?

Better it is to let the silence of the night be eaten up
By the melancholic tunes of the flute;
Eyes closed, hair loose, skin breathing,
Free and wild!

My meaning~~~

What if this world was snatched of its glamour?
Would you still have wanted to remain stuck on it
Living as one of its inhabitants
Eating what it offers you
Drinking its contaminated waters,
Enjoying what is left of it;
Birth, diseases, pain, old age and death?

What if this world was no more meant to be?
What if you were shown the way out
The way to safety
The way to there where living remains
As a tranquil river bed
And you, a mere fish enjoying your existence
Without any care?

Pray, this world scares me
Here I have been shaped to think
That it is the very center of existence
That humans are the superior beings
And that Gods are there, simply being genies
In bottles, waiting to be given a good rub
So as to fulfill their wishes!

But the Truth is that I, like so many,
Live in denial
I, like so many,
Cater to existing, as if I were invincible
Fearing and running away from Death
When in fact, Death remains
Our savior
Our ladder, to reach the haven of existence
To have, hopefully,
A chance of having our souls saved
Saved from the jaws of this Earth,
Seeming to be as attractive as a fairy tale princess
But being, behind its mask
A puss oozing wound, hungry,
Hungry for our fear, our anxieties, our negativity!

Why, this world, denied of its glamor
Is nothing more
I do live it, humbly,
I do live it, fearfully,
I do live it, partly,
Know I that the meaning of my being
Lies elsewhere!

Earth's Pain~~~

Earth looked up at the skies,
Tried to prevent her tears from falling
Tried to stop her painful heart from growling
Tried to pretend that she was well,
That she only felt like smiling
And shouted out,
Why are you always there?
So silent, so mysterious,
So unpredictable
But so important for me?

Without you, my children would not grow
Without you, my children would remain thirsty
Without you, why, my children would not even have been!

Pray, if I deem myself as being the Mother of all my children
Then, surely, surely, you must be their Father
But then, why do you remain away
Why do you remain shrouded, hidden
And let me do as I wish
Cherishing and pampering my children as much as I desire
Till, jolted and moved,
You only deem it best to thrust calamities upon us all?

Don't you realize that we all need to see you
Don't you realize that we all crave to hear you,
Even if only through mystical means?

Is it the fate you have imposed on all my daughters
Are they to get fooled by your sweet words
Only to have their vision cleared someday
When they shall see, written on their hand lines
That, all along, they had been meant to depend solely upon themselves
Being the strong mother of their daughters
Being the loving daughter of their mothers
Being the capricious lovers men need
But at the same time being the men they themselves need
Being the compassionate understanding the world requires
While at the same time, showing cruelty and coldness
To the betterment of their own kind!

Pray, skies, your silence is agonizing
I know, one by one, each one in his turn,
My children will come to you
With hungry hearts and needy eyes
I know, deep in my own depth,
That you shall love them all!

But what about me?
Am I to keep on existing
Away from you
Away, so silently, so stoically,
As I have always been
As I am doing
As if, I am to accept my burden as if I were being punished
For something which I might have done to you
But of which I have no idea!

Love, tell me~~~

If I cry openly Will it move you Love? Or do you feel stable Only when I smile and pretend That my blooms are wilting not That my moons...
